Eczema is the itch that wakes people at three in the morning. Research here follows the itch, the patches and the lost sleep over weeks, and nobody is told to throw away the creams they already rely on without a full conversation first.

The question people with eczema ask first is whether they will have to stop their creams. Programs differ, and the clinical team answers that on the first call, before anyone decides. What teams follow is the itch itself: how strong it is by day and by night, how the patches spread or fade, and how much sleep is lost to scratching.

Taking part usually means a few visits with a skin check, photos of the patches and short questionnaires about itch and sleep. Teens take part too, with a parent or guardian beside them. Parent or guardian permission is required for anyone under 18.

An independent review board reads the plan for every eczema program before it opens and checks on it while it runs. Register your interest here and the clinical team will reach out to explain what is being followed nearby.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to stop my eczema creams or ointments to take part?

Programs differ, and the clinical team says exactly how a program fits with a person's current skin care before anything begins. Nothing is stopped on a whim.

Why do eczema teams ask so much about sleep?

Because the night itch is where eczema does the most damage to a week. Tracking sleep alongside the patches shows whether a change on the skin is also a change in daily life.

What happens at an eczema research visit?

A skin check, photos of the patches so changes can be compared, and short questionnaires about itch and sleep. The clinical team explains each part before it happens.

Can teenagers take part in eczema research?

Yes, with a parent or guardian involved from the start. Parent or guardian permission is required for anyone under 18, and the teen answers the itch questions in their own words.

Will I keep seeing my own dermatologist?

Programs are arranged alongside a person's usual skin care, and the clinical team goes over how the two fit together on the first call.

Is there compensation for taking part?

Compensation may be available for your time and inconvenience.
